Summer Learning

Summer School is a dedicated program designed for students requiring additional learning opportunities and support to meet grade-level standards. This program targets students identified as needing extra time and practice to reinforce essential academic skills. Funded through Federal Grants, Summer School provides tailored instruction and resources to those with the greatest academic need, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed. By offering focused and intensive educational experiences, Summer School helps students build a strong foundation for continued academic achievement.

Extended School Year (ESY) is a specialized summer program offered to students who qualify through Special Education, providing continued instructional support beyond the regular school year. ESY focuses on maintaining and reinforcing critical academic skills and content learning, preventing regression, and promoting steady progress. Through tailored educational activities and individualized instruction, ESY helps students with special needs retain essential knowledge and skills, ensuring they are prepared for the upcoming school year. Kindergarten Countdown Camp is a special summer program designed for incoming kindergarteners who have not attended preschool, offered in partnership with United Way of Lake County. This camp provides young learners with a head start on their educational journey by introducing them to the school environment, routines, and foundational academic skills. Through engaging activities and guided instruction, children develop essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills, easing their transition into kindergarten. The program aims to build confidence and enthusiasm for learning, ensuring that every child is prepared for a successful start to their school experience.

Band and Orchestra Camp is an enriching summer program offered to students in grades 5-8, providing a dynamic opportunity to enhance their musical skills and knowledge. This camp focuses on instrumental instruction, ensemble performance, and music theory, allowing students to develop their talents in a supportive and engaging environment. AUGS 6th Grade Warrior Academy is a four-day comprehensive summer program designed to help incoming 6th graders acclimate and prepare for middle school. This program offers students the opportunity to meet fellow 6th graders, practice opening lockers, tour the building, and engage in team-building activities. Additionally, students will meet their teachers and administrators, walk through their class schedules, and familiarize themselves with the school environment. The Warrior Academy aims to ease the transition to middle school by building confidence and fostering a sense of community among new students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the exciting challenges ahead.
