Emergency Day Off 12/17/2021

December 16, 2021 - 10:45 p.m.

Dear Antioch CCSD 34 Families and Staff,

We apologize for the late communication.

Tonight, we are actively working with the police departments in Antioch, Lake Villa, and Lindenhurst, following up on at least three additional reports that have been received this evening related to student safety concerns.

While up to this point we have not determined any reports to be credible threats to our Antioch CCSD 34 schools, the last 24 hours have clearly created a disruption to our learning environment. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be taking an Emergency Day tomorrow, December 17, 2021.

There will be no student attendance or remote classes on Friday, December 17, 2021 and all District buildings will be closed.

This pause will hopefully create peace of mind for many, while providing our administrative team and our law enforcement agencies an opportunity to thoroughly and diligently complete our investigations and follow-up.

We appreciate your support and understanding in the face of this difficult, uncertain, and challenging situation. Please continue to talk to your students and report any concerns you may have.

Respectfully,

Dr. Bradford Hubbard

Superintendent
