OAKLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WELCOMES LAUREN BAUER
Lauren Bauer is from Crystal Lake, Illinois. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's in Elementary with a concentration in Reading. Upon graduation, Lauren returned to Crystal Lake where she taught first grade for six years. During that time she completed her Master's in Educational Leadership through Aurora University. Lauren recently taught at Emmons Elementary in Antioch before beginning her journey with District 34. She resides in Antioch with her husband and 5-month old daughter. Lauren is excited to work with you all and looking forward to the upcoming year in 34!
W.C. PETTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WELCOMES ANGELENA COLON
Angelena is a resident of Antioch with 15 years of experience in the world of education as a teacher and school leader in K-8 settings. Her educational background stems from degrees in Education, School Leadership, and Curriculum & Instruction. She loves exploring the world around her by dabbling in adventures, running on forest trails, hiking through Nathional Parks, learning new skills like ice climbing/bow & arrow practice/snorkeling, and avidly reading. Don't be surprised if you see her around Antioch checking out the local shops, zenning out in a yoga class, or simply admiring the beauty of our surrounding area. But most importantly, she loves spending time with family, friends, and her 12-year old African Grey parrot - Ace.
HILLCREST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WELCOMES HOLLY KAPROSY
Originally and proudly from Cleveland, Ohio, Holly received her Bachelor's in English from the University of Michigan and her Master's degrees in Education from John Carroll University. Holly spent the first thirteen years of her career in Ohio teaching ELA and creative writing at the high school and middle school levels. The next five years Holly worked as a school counselor in both the high school and elementary school level. The last two years Holly served as an elementary school assistant principal in Zion after her family moved from Cleveland to the Chicago area. Holly lives in Vernon Hills with her husband Andrew, their two sons, AJ and Billy, and two dogs, London and Opie. When Holly is not at school, she loves practicing yoga, reading, and spending sunny days outdoors and preferably on the water. Holly is so excited to be part of Antioch D34 and the Hillcrest family!
Josh Coon and Susan Harkins have moved to new locations or positions!
JOSH COON HAS MOVED FROM DEAN OF STUDENTS TO BEING THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT ANTIOCH UPPER GRADE SCHOOL
Mr. Josh Coon has recently been the Dean of Students the past two years at AUGS. He was previously a teacher for 15 years. He received his Backelor of Art's Degree in Education from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He then continued his education by receiving a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from St. Xavier University in Chicago and a second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from American College in Education in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Josh began his teaching tenure at Pleviak Elementary in Lake Villa, where he taught 6th grade. He then continued his career at Palombi Middle School, where he taught 7th grade math. Most recently Josh has served as Dean of Students here in D34 at AUGS. Josh will now become an Assistant Principal at AUGS and is very much looking forward to his new role.
Josh lives in Lake Villa with his wife Elizabeth, who is an English/Language Arts teacher at St. Bede's and his two girls, Joslin (9) and Emillie (6). He is a sports enthusiast and enjoys spending time with his family.
SUSAN HARKINS HAS CHANGED POSITIONS AND IS NOW THE COORDINATOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
Mrs. Susan Harkins has 15 years of experience working in education. She spent two years working for SEDOL (Special Education District of Lake County) and the last 13 years at Antioch Upper Grade School (AUGS) and Hillcrest Elementary.
Mrs. Harkins attended Northern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree, and then earned a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from National Louis University. Mrs. Harkins looks forward to completing her Director of Special Education Endorsement in the near future.
It has been the passion of Mrs. Harkins to make a difference in the lives of the students at AUGS and Hillcrest. She is excited to do the same as the Coordinator of Student Services. Mrs. Harkins is looking forward to providing effective leadership in Antioch School District 34 in her new role in the 2019-2020 school year.
