    Oakland Friendship Week 2020

    February 10-14

     

    Help us celebrate friendship week at Oakland Elementary with the following friendship week activities:

     

    Monday 2/10 - Random Act of Kindness

    Go out of your way to do something extra nice for someone!

    Tuesday 2/11 - #Twinning Day

                  Dress like your bestie!       

    Wednesday 2/12- Nobody Eats Alone

                      Sit with someone new at lunch and talk about your similarities. Our school goal is that nobody ever eats alone at Oakland!

    Thursday 2/13- Favorite Shirt Day

                  Wear a shirt the displays something you are interested in. Find a friend who has the same interests as you and talk with them.

    Friday 2/14- Wear Red

                  Wear red to celebrate friendship!

     

    If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.

    If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.

    If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live!

    January 20- No School ( MLK's Birthday)

    February 17- No School ( President's Day)

     

     

     

     

     

    Here are some ideas of what you can do at home with your student:

    -write first name and recognize the letters in their name

    -writing numbers 0-10

    -recognizing numbers 0-20


    -recognizing all letters and practicing their sounds

    -starting to read simple high frequency words (me, is, to, the, etc.)

    -counting objects to 20

    -counting out loud to 100

    -rhyming

    -clapping syllables in words 

    -recognizing 2D and 3D shapes (square, circle, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, cube, sphere, cylinder, cone)

    -tying your shoes, buttoning/snapping your jackets/pants, zipping your jackets/pants

    -cutting along objects 

    -Read together!  Discuss the story afterwards :)
