    Parent Volunteers
I love having parent volunteers!  I sent out a sign up sheet on SignupGenius.  Please let me know if you did not receive the information and wish to help out in the classroom.
Temperature Outside and in the Classroom
Please make sure students have appropriate clothes for outside recess.  We will go outside unless it is rainy or the temperature is too cold.
The temperature in the classroom is not consistent.  Students may get cold or warm throughout the day, so the best bet is to dress in layers.  Students are also allowed to leave a sweatshirt or sweater in the classorom if that will work :)

Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

The Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization that provides a place for families to stay when their child is being treated for a serious illness. Hillcrest is collecting the little tabs you pull to open soda, soup, or other aluminum cans. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum tabs helps to offset the expense families endure to stay in this House.

Collecting tabs can be an easy and fun project. Tabs can be dropped off at the Hillcrest School office or sent in a baggie in your child’s backpack. Please take the time to collect these as it helps families to be together during a tough time.

Here are some ideas of what you can do at home with your student:

-writing first and last name and recognizing the letter names

    -writing numbers 0-20

    -recognizing numbers 0-50
-recognizing all letters and practicing the sounds the letters make

-starting to read simple high frequency words (me, is, to, the, etc.)

    -counting objects to 20

    -counting out loud to 100

    -clapping syllables in words

-recognizing 2D and 3D shapes (square, circle, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, cube, sphere, cylinder, cone)

-tying your shoes, buttoning/snapping your jackets/pants, zipping your jackets/pants
    -cutting along objects

-Read together!  Discuss the story afterwards :)

Please remember to send a fruit or veggie for snack each day!  I also encourage all students to bring a water bottle to drink throughout the day.

We will have library on Wednesday.  Please make sure your child's library book is returned by Wednesday morning so they can check a new one out each week!  Please help your student find a safe spot to keep their library book at home.
