  • Greetings from Green Village - Classrom 304!

We had a busy first week of school. Thanks to all who came out to the Pre-K Open House. I realize it was very busy and cowded. If you didn't get a chance to share information with me about your child that you wanted to - PLEASE feel free to call or email me at any time! I really value parent-teacher communication.

We plan on spending the next few weeks aclimating to the classroom rules and routines. Many students have never been in a school environment before and it is important to focus heavily on following classroom rules, routines, and teacher expectations. Some examples include: learning to sit on the carpet for circle time, staying seated at the table for small group work, cleaning up toys when we are done with them, walking in a line when we leave the classroom, and demonstrating listening skills when the teacher is talking. Typically it takes 6-8 weeks to get the classroom running smoothly with students understanding what is expected of them. I will be scheduling classroom volunteers starting in October.

Be on the lookout for various papers and forms in your child's backpack. It is helpful to check their backpack daily and remove all papers and artwork. Mrs. Cryder checks backpacks daily to look for returned forms and parent notes. It is very helpful if we keep only essentials in the backpack (like the folder). Please try to keep toys at home.

Please feel free to contact me at any time!
