Hello, My name is Katie Blount, one of Oakland Elementary's two social workers. I have an array of experience in education starting many years ago as a school bus driver. I earned my teaching degree from Trinity Christian College and my Master's in Social Work from Dominican University in 2017. I am clinically trained to work with adolescents who have experienced trauma and providing support in establishing practices that are sensitive to trauma experiences. My previous social work experience includes working in another school district and providing clinical services in a private practice. As a member of support services, I know the importance of involving family in the process and strive to collaborate with and include their concerns and ideas each step of the way.
