Mr. Michael Wieda
I spent most of my life in Mount Prospect, IL and Des Plaines, IL. I currently live in Antioch with my wife Taylor and three sons Brantley (6), Beau (4), and Beckham (2). I attended John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, IL then later attended college where I studied and played baseball at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL and Chicago State University in Chicago, IL. I went on to play baseball professionally from 2007-2011 with the Schaumburg Flyers in Schaumburg, IL and overseas in Slovakia. Upon my return to the US, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education (K-12) from Chicago State in 2011. I spent my first ten years (2012-2021) of my teaching/coaching career at DePaul College Prep on the northside of Chicago where I served as lead PE/Health teacher, Kinetic Wellness department chair, varsity baseball pitching coach, and head boy's bowling coach. At the same time, I also moderated two social clubs at the school. During the 2020-2021 school year, I received the Chicago IAHPERD High School PE Teacher of the Year award.
Why Become A Warrior? Some of my most memorable teaching experiences happened while working with middle school aged students during my student teaching experience. I always dreamt of working with upper grade school students again one day and with family roots tied deep into the Antioch area I felt that the fall of 2021 was the best time for my family and I to become Warriors For Life!
