Curriculum

Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum

A Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC) ensures that every student in our district has access to a consistent and high-quality education. The purpose of a GVC is to define clear learning expectations and provide the necessary resources and time for all students to achieve academic success.

Antioch CCSD 34 is committed to this approach and is currently in the process of identifying Essential Standards for every grade level. These Essential Standards represent the most critical skills and knowledge that students need to master at each grade level to be prepared for future academic challenges and success. This initiative reflects our dedication to providing a rigorous and equitable education for all students.

Curriculum Resources

Curriculum Guides

D34 curriculum guides provide a comprehensive overview of the educational programs and content taught at each grade level. Aligned with state standards, these guides ensure a consistent and high-quality educational experience for all students.

Curriculum Review Cycle

A curriculum review cycle is a systematic process used by the district to ensure that the curriculum remains current, effective, and aligned with educational standards and best practices. This ongoing cycle involves several key steps:

Research and Evaluation
The current curriculum and instructional resources are thoroughly evaluated to assess their strengths, weaknesses, and overall effectiveness in meeting student learning goals and state standards. Evaluation of current and longitudinal assessment and performance data, as well as common assessments, are reviewed.
Development
Based on the evaluation findings, research is conducted to identify new instructional strategies, resources, and content that can enhance the curriculum. This step involves reviewing educational research, consulting experts, piloting programs or creating resources, and considering feedback from teachers, students, and parents.
Implementation and Revision
Necessary revisions are made to the curriculum to incorporate new insights, resources, and enhancements. The updated curriculum is then implemented in classrooms, with teachers receiving professional development and support to effectively teach the new content and methods.
Monitoring and Assessment
The implementation of the revised curriculum is closely monitored, and assessments are conducted to measure its impact on student learning and development. This step helps ensure that the changes are producing the desired outcomes.

Feedback and Continuous Improvement
Ongoing feedback is gathered from stakeholders to identify areas for further improvement. This feedback informs the next cycle of evaluation and revision, creating a continuous loop of enhancement.
