About Mrs. Turner - Getting to Know Me
Welcome to my class! The summer of 2019 has been incredibly busy. During the summer, my husband and I traveled overseas, for the first time. We had the opportunity to visit London, Switzerland, and Italy. This was truly an incredible adventure. My husband and I live in Grayslake with our dog, Arya, who is a Lab/Beagle mix. I adopted her from Save-A-Pet in 2013, where her large, brown, hound eyes stole my heart instantly. She definitely keeps us busy with her quirky personality and endless amounts of energy.
I am excited to continue as a Bobcat at W.C. Petty this school year! This will be my fifth year working in Petty. Before Petty, I was a 5th grade classroom teacher at AES. Before AES, I was at Oakland Elementary as a Math Aide, Special Education Aide, and a Reading Interventionist. With experience in a variety of school settings, my heart and passion is in the classroom, teaching 5th grade. I absolutely love teaching about American History! Also, who doesn’t love place value and fractions?!
When I have free time, I love to spend it with friends and family. This summer, most of my free time was spent doing some home renovations - we purchased our home last summer and finally got around to doing some work. During the school year, I spend much of my free time with my 4 year old nephew, Donnie and 1.5 month old niece, Harper.
I am very excited to start a new school year! Teaching is my passion and I love that I get to share my passion with your children.
