Hi! My name is Michelle Tarkowski and I am a Reading Intervention teacher here at W.C. Petty. This will be my 15th year teaching, all in Antioch School District 34. I have been a classroom teacher for 8 years (second and third grade) and this will be my 7th year as an Interventionist. I graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. In June of 2009 I completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois. Then in 2014 I completed my second Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine, University and received my Reading Specialist Certification.
I have been married for 10 years to my husband, Mark. We live here in Antioch with our two adorable daughters, Kaylee, 5 1/2, and Carly 3 1/2. Both girls will be attending school this year, Kindergarten and Pre-K, so it is an exciting and busy time in our house! On the weekends we enjoy spending time with our families, playing games, doing arts and crafts, and going shopping (mostly online now!). In the little spare time I have I enjoy arts and crafts, especially scrapbooking and making cards.
Seesaw - Grade 2
Google Classroom - Grades 3-5
I will be communicating with students and families through Seesaw and Google Classroom. I have set-up my own classrooms seperate from the classroom teacher. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. Communication and working together are important to a student’s success at school, especially in the unique school experience that we will have this year.
I’m looking forward to working with all of you this year and developing a love of reading in all students!
