While your child is in our classroom he/she can expect to be treated fairly and with respect. Never hesitate to contact me if you feel this is not happening.
I tend to use a calm, quieter voice when talking to the kids. This helps them know I really mean it when I have to raise my voice!
I allow and encourage as much movement throughout our day as possible in the form of brain breaks, choice of where students can independently work, or curriculum activities. I understand that these young learners are still working on their ability to focus for longer periods of time.
I have begun incorporating "flexible seating", which the kids will be introduced to as the year progresses. This allows them to choose different types of work areas so they can put forth their best effort while completing their work. It also gets them excited about the task at hand!
I expect a calm, quiet environment when the students are working. This is achieved through lots and lots of practice! We will work together to discuss how we can be safe, respectful, and responsible in our classroom.
I can't wait to meet your child and have a great year!
