Hello and welcome!  I am very excited to begin my 10th year of teaching here at Hillcrest Elementary School. I taught first grade for 4 years and this will be my 6th year teaching kindergarten. I absolutely LOVE teaching kindergarten because we have so much fun learning and playing! I graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I have endorsements in Reading, Language Arts, Science, Social Science, and English as a Second Language. In May of 2015 I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Master's degree in Reading which has allowed me to become a certified reading specialist. Prior to teaching, I worked in the travel industry for about 13 years. I worked in leisure and corporate travel at various companies like Carlson Wagonlit, Expedia, and United Airlines. Some of the places I have been able to explore are: Hawaii, Mexico, The Caribbean, Italy, Spain, Monaco, France, and The Philippines. I have experienced many different cultures and traditions in my travels and look forward to sharing the exciting places I have been with my students. I am 40 years old and was born and raised in Lake County. I am the youngest of four children. I have an older sister, 2 older brothers, and 11 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 14-32! In my free time I love to read and of course...travel!
