You will sometimes notice that books are “leveled.” This means that books have been placed along a continuum, starting at the most basic reading level and progressively becoming more challenging. Some start at “A” while others begin at “1.”
Not all books have a specific “level” so I have included characteristics that describe books at each of the letters in the alphabetic leveling system up to letters O/P. In addition, there are specific behaviors you will notice your child using at each level. Sample texts accompany each level.
While your child will progress through each “level” at his or her own pace during the school year, I will be working toward helping your child achieve a pre-determined reading level each trimester.
