    Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute for Antioch
    Community Consolidated School District 34.  We are pleased that
    you're interested in working with us to promote ongoing student
    achievement and success.  For the 2023-2024 school year we have approved the following:

    • Permanent Substitute positions will start at $120 per day plus benefits.
    • Certified Daily Substitute daily rate will be $115 per day.
    • Certified Daily Substitute bonus plan for annual full days worked at end of year (up to $500)

    Antioch CCSD 34 is looking for substitute teachers for 2023-2024!

    Have you ever thought about becoming a substitute teacher?  As we approach summer AND look ahead to next year we are seeing a shortage of qualified substitutes across the state of Illinois and here specifically in Lake County (especially here in our own Antioch CCSD 34).  As a reminder, the qualifications to be a substitute in the state of Illinois are:

    • Applicants MUST hold a Professional Educator License (PEL), or a Professional Substitute License and be registered in Lake County (Region 34).  If you would like more information on how to apply for a substitute teaching license with a bachelor’s degree, please view the following document: Substitute License

    • There is also a short term license that can be applied for with 60 hours of college coursework or an Associate's Degree. Find out more at: Substitute Licensure Information

    • Previous teaching or student-teaching is NOT required, although applicants with education degrees and/or instructional experience are preferred.

    All individuals interested in becoming a substitute must complete an online application located at www.antioch34.com. Applicants are screened against a set of established standards that reflect our high expectations.  Once an application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a phone or personal interview.

    It is required that applicants who are subbing for teachers have a valid teaching/substitute, or verification of application for the Illinois Teaching Certificate to be considered for employment.  It is required that applicants who are subbing for paraprofessionals (Teachers Aides) have a valid paraprofessional approval or teaching/substitute certificate.   

    The following will be required upon assignment as a substitute for the district:

    Ø  State and Federal background check (obtained through the district or ROE)

    Ø  Physical and Tuberculin test (obtained 90 days prior to hire date)

    Ø  Copies of original transcripts

    Salary Information for Paraprofessional Teachers Aides Substitutes:
    The Teacher's Aide position will be compensated at the $15.54 hourly rate.  

    Salary Information for Certified Substitutes:
    The daily rate for substitutes is $115/Day

    Salary Information for Cross-Category Subbing:
    If a certified substitute accepts an aide sub assignment they will be paid the aide daily rate.
    If an aide substitue accepts a certified assignment they will receive the certified daily rate.
    (Must have substitute teacher certification to accept a certified assignment)

    In District 34, substitutes are an important member of our educational team.  We depend heavily on our substitutes to help in our mission to educate our children to become life-long learners by providing a child-centered curriculum that challenges the potential of all learners.
