Welcome to Remote Learning 2.0! Our theme for Oakland is “Navigating Forward.”

  • Our principal, Rebecca Adams, chose the theme for this year! See her written words below:

Our theme this year for Oakland is “Navigating Forward.”  Throughout this year, we will navigate forward together on our set course: giving our students the best possible school experience and opportunities for growth that we are able to within our current limitations.

Of this unprecedented time that we are in, it has been said that we are all in the same boat.  I would venture to say that while we are all traveling the same sea within this stormy time, that we are not, in fact, all in the same boat.  Some of our boats are better equipped to weather this storm.  Some of our boats may feel like we are taking on water.  I invite you to partner with us as we set a course for our children to continue to grow and have a positive school experience while navigating these waves.  Together, we can help to patch the holes, provide the life jackets, and be the compass to point us in the right direction.  Together, we will navigate forward.  In sailing, navigating forward sometimes is not a straight path, there may be turns or rough waters.  That is to be expected.  What is important is that we rely upon our crew: our teachers, staff, and even one another, to help get us back on course; while also allowing ourselves the grace to know that it may take time to get our “sea legs”, but that we will get there.  And together, we absolutely will get there.

August 19th, 2020- First Day of Remote Learning!

For Remote Learning 2.0, there are different expectations than what we had in the spring. For Remote 2.0, students will be expected to be in attendance from 8:30-2:30 every day. Instruction will be live via Zoom for most of the day, with times that your child will be working independently while I work with other students in small groups. I will also be using Google Classroom as well. There will be times that I am working with the whole class, small groups, or individual students so I will not be available until after 2:30 p.m. Your child will be expected to do all the assigned work, including specials. If your child is absent, please contact me through Class Dojo so I can prepare make up work for the following day. I do not plan to record the Zoom sessions so attendance is very important.
