  • Hi Parents & Guardians,

    My name is Amber Chayer and I will be your child’s second grade teacher! I am very excited to dive into remote learning & get the year started. As this is everyone’s first experience with Remote Learning 2.0, there will definitely be some trial and error moments, but I am looking forward to trying new things and seeing what works best for this particular group of students! I appreciate your patience, feedback & support along the way! I know we will be able to work together to make the year a success for all involved! 

    Second grade is lucky enough to have Seesaw as our communication platform this year. Please, see below for information on how to connect to your child’s Seesaw account (thank you to the individuals who have connected already):

    Your child should be able to access Seesaw on his/her district provided iPad. I believe each student should have access to Seesaw through the application “Class Link”.

    At material pick-up, you & your child will be getting a lot of paper materials (listed below). Please, ensure these materials stay in a safe location (especially log in information – in a folded piece of TEAL construction paper), as we will be using them throughout the course of remote learning.

    Our daily schedule is listed below. Any time that says “whole group” is going to be a time when I will be meeting with the entire class via a scheduled Zoom meet. Any time that does not say “whole group” will be a time for students to do one of the following: meet with another teacher (intervention, gifted, OT, counselor, etc.), work independently, work with a small group (through a Zoom call with me), work 1:1 (through a Zoom call with me).

    Daily Schedule

    I plan to post a daily Bitmoji Classroom to Seesaw. The post will include links to any scheduled zoom meets, links to teacher webpages (for specials, intervention, gifted, OT, counselor, etc.), as well as links to common applications used during each subject area. Should your child finish his/her independent work early, he/she is welcome to use any of the websites/applications listed under that particular subject. Please, see the attached below for a “mock” version of what this may look like. Note, the links will not work, as this is a screen shot.

    As mentioned earlier, Remote Learning 2.0 is new to all of us. The plan outlined above will likely change, as I learn what does & does not work for this group of students. Thank you for understanding this is novel and will likely take some time to get used to. I will always do my best to be as informative as possible, without overwhelming you (hopefully).
