Thank you for opening up the Fine Arts Page for Antioch School District 34.  My name is Robin Singer, I am the district Art Educator for all four elementary buildings.  Each child receives art one day a week, for a 40 minute period.  I am present in two buildings for 18 weeks.  This year I have started at WC Petty and Antioch Elementary School.

Don't forget to look for news concerning the Antioch Art Crawl first weekend in May.  Each child in Antioch will have one piece of art work displayed in store fronts in town.  I look forward to seeing all of you.

If at anytime you have any questions concerning your child or our art program, please e-mail me at:  rsinger@antioch34.com, or phone me at extension 8957.

Thank you,

Ms. Robin Singer

"The Language of Art"

The language of art consists of line, shape, color, texture, pattern, and form.  These work together like words to make a visual sentences.  The brainpower to combine thoughts, feelings, and information into a visual sentence is an important communication skill.  Even though the solutions are limitless, it is not disorganized thinking, rather it is developing the ability to organize and redefine elements into an aesthetic whole.  Refining this creative problem solving skill benefits all aspects of life.

To Parents:

Children need to learn how to utilize their creativity and express it in a constructive way.  Children thrive on your encouragement and praise.  Your interest and participation in their art projects lets your child know that their thoughts and feelings are important.  Each child's creation is unique and becomes an extension of themselves-a way of defining who they are.
