“A volunteer is anyone who supports school goals and children’s learning or development in any way, at any place, and at any time – not just during the school day and at the school building.” Dr. Joyce L. Epstein National Network of Partnership Schools John Hopkins University
In the spring of 2009, the Parent Involvement Task Force (PITF) was created to develop a program to increase parental involvement within our district. This new program emphasizes that all help, any help, makes a huge difference for schools. The research is clear – kids at schools with a broad base of involved parents perform markedly better on all kinds of key school measures. Please fill out your purple "Hillcrest Volunteer Menu" form with your availability and interests and send it back to school. This menu can be found under the "Documents" tab on the left side.
If every Hillcrest parent commits to Just 2 Hours to helping out, we can do amazing things for our kids and our school. There are opportunities available inside the classroom, outside the classroom or that involve PTO activities. We’d love to help you get involved in any way that works for you,
Your forms will be distributed to the teachers and also entered into a database. If you are interested in working in the classroom, your teacher will confirm times and schedules with you. They will do their best to work your availability into their classroom schedule. You will be contacted as other opportunities are available. If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Vicki Mueller.
